“Drawings for Wishes” evolved out of a basic desire to introduce community engagement into my practice. The project investigates social change through gift culture and creative exchange, and emphasizes meaningful interactions between strangers. For each iteration of this project, I make drawings on-site and encourage passersby to take a drawing of their choice in exchange for a wish written down on a scrap of paper. The process of gathering wishes from the public sheds light on the thoughts and concerns of each location, while revealing the similarities and differences between varying demographics.
